Hole 9
Number nine is an uphill par 4 that can play anywhere from 300 to 440 yards. Playing into the southerly wind adds an additional challenge. Nine starts with a narrow tee shot out of a chute, into a fairway that slopes right to left, towards the two fairway bunkers. The fairway bunker protecting the front left of the green will make any up and down extremely difficult.
Hole 8
A good tee shot is right center of the fairway to avoid the large cottonwood that protects the green from any shot from the left side of the fairway. Playing a shorter club off the tee is a good option to keep your tee shot in ideal position. A good tee shot will leave a short to mid iron to a large green with a slope running through the middle.
Hole 7
The seventh, a long downhill par 3, places a premium on accuracy. The front of the green is guarded by a large slope that feeds balls back towards the creek. Play to the center of the green to avoid any difficult up and down.
Hole 6
This straight away par 5 presents a real birdie chance. Keep your tee shot right of the bunker. The long hitters have a chance of reaching the green in two with a good tee shot. Favor the left side of the green as the large buffalo shaped bunker will leave a difficult and long shot in to this large double green.
Hole 5
Don’t judge this short par 3 by its yardage. Playing into the predominantly south wind, a low controlled shot will be required to find the green. Long and right is the only miss as two deep bunkers guard the left and short right side of the green.
Hole 4
This 3 shot par 5 plays 640 yards from the back teas. To keep your tee shot in an ideal spot, start your tee shot down the middle of the fairway over the hedge post. Your second shot will leave you with a decision.
Attempt to keep you ball in the upper portion of the fairway and bring the native grass into play, or take the safe route and keep the ball in the lower portion and out of trouble.
Hole 3
A long par 4, will challenge all players. A good tee shot will leave a mid to long iron into a green guarded by a large grass bunker. To avoid the bunker, play to the left side of the grreen where everything funnels back towards the middle of the green.
Hole 2
One of the most scenic holes at Firekeeper, starts a stretch of 3 difficult holes. Try to avoid the five fairway bunkers by playing your tee shot to the right side of the fairway. Beware of “The Coffin” on your second shot.
Hole 1
is a 395 yard, uphill par 4 that plays into a predominant south wind. Tee shots should be played to the right side of the fairway to avoid the bunker on the left side of the fairway and allow for the slope of the fairway. A good drive will setup a short to mid iron into a large green. Avoid misses long and left.
